MASEMI Trust
Registered Trustees
is connected with
The International Federation of the Blue Cross
through its Kenyan chapter. Frederick Omole, or
Kwame as everybody calls him, is our Blue Cross worker
in the Nairobi area. He, together with Florence
Mkala and Jonny Mydland, are also members of the Board
for Blue Cross Nairobi.

[The
following is picked from the Blue Cross Home Page of the
International Federation.
We hope to establish the same offers within a few
years. Some of them are already established, like
groups for young people, but we are eagerly awaiting to
build a clinic where much more Blue Cross work can be
done!]
Means
of Action
Youth
The Blue Cross is active amongst children, young
people, their parents and teachers. It organises
regular meetings and camps in a happy and healthy
atmosphere. Young People are thus encouraged to
lead a life free from alcohol and drugs.
Meeting
and therapy groups
These offer opportunities for dialogue and
sharing to all those who have problems related to their
drinking. Trained volunteers or professional
workers are at their disposal to guide and help them.
Treatment
Centres, half-way houses and meeting places
Open for all those who can no longer cope alone
and who need guidance or therapeutic help.
Publications
Books, brochures, leaflets, posters, magazines
and audiovisual means are available in over 10
languages.
You
will find more on the Blue Cross
home-page!!!

Blue
Cross is of course much more than just learning about
alcohol and drugs. It is also having lots of fun!
The misconception people have that it is impossible to
enjoy life without alcohol (especially in the Western
world - but also very much in Kenya!), is really silly.
|
One
of the absolute best ways of using your body in a
positive way, is through sports!
Maisha Mema has
three boys' teams in football and two girls' teams.
And Jonny is hoping
for table-tennis...
 |
|
We
know that you enjoy life much better sober!
Therefore we also encourage adults to be good examples
for their children, by avoiding alcohol and in stead
having fun with them! Maisha Mema workers are
therefore also abstinent.

Not many
countries have honoured Blue Cross on stamps, but
Greenland has! In 1991 they commemorated 75 years
of Blue Cross work at the island.
